What I Learned About Design at Squarespace

Reflections on my time at Squarespace, a company known for its uncompromising focus on aesthetics and design culture.

What I Learned About Design at Squarespace

Squarespace taught me that design culture isn’t about ping pong tables or fancy offices. It’s about the decisions you make when no one’s looking.

It’s about saying “no” to features that would compromise the experience. It’s about sweating the details that most users will never consciously notice. It’s about believing that beautiful, functional design is a form of respect for the people who use your product.

These lessons have stayed with me through every role since. The bar you set internally becomes the bar your users experience externally.
